Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for this site is Clear Watt Guide, based in Spain. As the controller is established in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the primary framework governing how we handle personal data, for every visitor regardless of where you're located — not just visitors in the EU. You can reach us at contact@clearwattguide.com for any request described on this page.

Information we collect

ClearWatt does not require account creation and does not knowingly collect personally-identifiable information directly. Our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URL) for security and aggregate usage statistics. Beyond that, the only personal data we process is what's described below under advertising cookies, and set by Google, not by us directly.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6)

• Technical/security logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited): processed under our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in keeping the site secure and understanding aggregate usage — this data is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
• Advertising cookies served by Google AdSense: processed only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), collected through the cookie consent banner described in the next section. If you decline or don't respond, no advertising cookie is set for you and no ad script loads at all.

Third-party advertising cookies and Google as our ad provider

This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use third-party cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, including — where you've consented — personalized ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Before any advertising cookie is set, you see ClearWatt's own cookie consent banner, where you can Accept All, Reject All, or open Manage Preferences to choose individually. No AdSense script loads until you accept that category. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of every page. Your rights under the GDPR

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erasure — request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
• Restriction — request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest, including profiling for advertising.
• Portability — request your data in a structured, commonly-used, machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent — withdraw previously-given consent (e.g. for advertising cookies) at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@clearwattguide.com. Because most personal data on this site is processed by Google (as our advertising partner) via cookies rather than data we hold directly, some requests — especially around ad personalization — are often faster to resolve directly through Google Ad Settings. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority; as the controller is based in Spain, that authority is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), though you may also contact the supervisory authority in your own EU member state if different.

Your rights under the CCPA/CPRA (California)

Separately from the GDPR rights above, California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — a definition that, under California law, can include letting third-party advertising cookies (like those used by Google AdSense) collect browsing data for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out by:

• Using the Google Ad Settings link above to disable ad personalization for your Google account, or
• Emailing contact@clearwattguide.com with "CCPA Opt-Out" in the subject line — we'll process your request within the timeframe California law requires.

California residents also have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion; the same contact email handles those requests.
